Lagoa, Azores, Portugal - For When You Really Want to Slow Down
The Azores Country & Nature Cottage isa restored traditional stone agricultural building surrounded by garden, countryside and nature. There are flowers, aromatic plants, birds, cows and even a small lake nearby- yet it isn’t asking travellers to abandon modern comforts. It has a kitchen, fast wifi and a workspace.
So this is not necessarily “off-grid.” It is something I think many people actually want more: the ability to disconnect without being disconnected.
It is also only about 15 minutes by car from Ponta Delgada, Lagoa and Ribeira Grande, with the sea just a few minutes away. At the time I checked, it was rated 4.99/5 from 114 reviews and ranked in Airbnb’s top 5% of eligible homes. Guests particularly mention the outdoor spaces, location and hospitality.

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic - Beach Life Without the Resort Scale
